Moreover, it relies on crops rotation, to avoid soil exhaustion. Nothing is lost in linen: fibers too short to be used in textile enter paper fabrication, residues enter horses beddings or insulation. From linen seeds can be extracted an oil with high omega 3 content.

Cultivating linen implies being constantly in touch with nature; this material is often qualified of living, and demands a very special expertise, developed long ago in Western Europe, and especially in France, first linen producer in the world. In the last years, demand for linen has increased. Used for centuries as a base fiber in textile, it was replaced with artificial fibers like viscose. However, todays consumers seek essential and genuine materials, as opposed to the relentless consumerism too often associated with the textile and fashion industry. This is something they find in linen. This is also true for those farmers and weavers who work with linen: this material does not look like any other, for it possesses a genuine soul. Its coolness, its unique weight, its thinness, the care one has to give to its entire fabrication, make it a noble material, not different from silk or cashmere.

Clementine Nguyen, the SobOsibio creator, tells us that Linen is a material that welcomes dyeing remarkably well. When I create my color range, and that the first trials are made, I am always surprised by the special tints and shades the fiber gives to this plum or that blue.

Further information:

Please visit Masters of Linen and watch one these two videos:

  <SKU>6</SKU>

  <SKU>5</SKU>

  <SKU>4</SKU>

  <SKU>3</SKU>

  <SKU>2</SKU>
